Brian, a farmer of 15 years was conducting his weekly spraying activities, when a stiff breeze sprung up. In an awkward neighbour moment, chemicals drifted across the fence line.

THE CHALLENGE

Brian shared a great relationship with Tom, his neighbour, but when a sudden wind shift occurred during weed spraying operations, things could have turned ugly for Brian’s finances and relationship. The spray drift that ended up on Tom’s property impacted on production and crop yields resulting in economic loss. Tom claimed damages for lost production, replanting and loss of income totaling $150,000.

THE FIX

Fortunately we covered this part of Brian’s farm operations by encouraging him to take out appropriate Liability protection, which paid for Tom’s damage. The cost? $500 excess for Brian and the problem was dealt with.
